The Divorce Stablization Program

Our Divorce Stabilization Program is a short-term, skills-based track for people who are just beginning or are in the midst of divorce. We focus on emotional regulation—grounding, distress tolerance, and cognitive reframing—so you can stay clear-headed, make rational decisions, and avoid reactive mistakes. The work is practical and tailored to your stage in the process, helping you protect yourself, reduce conflict, and safeguard your children’s well-being.

What It Is, and How It Works.

Who it’s for
People at the start or in the thick of divorce who need structure, steadiness, and clear decision support.

How it works (6–8 sessions, weekly or accelerated)

  • Session 1: Intake & Roadmap – brief history, risk/safety screen, goal-setting, and a personalized stabilization plan.

  • Emotional Regulation Lab – grounding, breathwork, distress-tolerance, and cognitive reframing you can use in real time (60-second resets, decision checklists, text/email scripts).

  • Decision Coaching – clarify options and trade-offs using values-based tools to minimize impulsive choices.

  • Boundaries & Communication – BIFF/“new ways” skills with ready-to-use templates to de-escalate conflict.

  • Parent/Child Support – age-appropriate language and home routines that protect children’s stability.

  • System Coordination – with your permission, align with attorney/mediator on scope and documentation.

  • Between-Session Practice – brief exercises, trackers, and micro-habits; optional check-ins for high-stakes moments.

What participation looks like

  • Bring 1–2 active decisions weekly (e.g., housing, temporary schedules, finances).

  • Use a Decision & Emotion Log to pause before reacting and apply tools.

  • Rehearse real messages/emails to make them shorter, neutral, and effective.

  • Follow a simple Stability Routine (sleep anchors, movement, nutrition basics, support contacts).

  • Optional releases to coordinate with legal/medical providers.

Proposed outcomes (measurable, realistic)

  • Reduced reactivity: fewer impulsive texts/emails; longer pause between trigger and response.

  • Clearer decisions: documented pros/cons and value alignment; less second-guessing.

  • Safer co-parenting exchanges: shorter, neutral communications; faster conflict resolution.

  • Child well-being protected: consistent routines; increased parent confidence in hard conversations.

  • Personal stability: better sleep, appetite, and energy; a go-to toolkit for future stressors.

  • Smoother legal process: fewer avoidable delays and lower conflict costs through better self-management.

What you take with you
Personalized Stabilization Plan, Communication Script Pack, Decision Checklist, and a Crisis-to-Calm toolkit.

Why participate (why now)

  • Prevent costly mistakes: emotional reactivity drives legal delays and fees—skills reduce both.

  • Protect your children: practical routines and language shield kids from adult conflict.

  • Keep control in a chaotic time: a structured plan restores agency and clear thinking.

  • Make decisions you won’t regret: values-based tools help you act, not react.

  • Build resilience beyond divorce: the same skills work for future stressors, not just today.

Extend with maintenance sessions or add targeted modules (court prep, parenting-plan transitions, post-decree recovery) as needed.
