Frequently Asked Questions
Who do you help?
Adults during and after divorce, co-parents, and children/teens adjusting to two homes. Services are offered through The Boca Raton Center for Child & Family.
What programs do you offer?
Divorce Stabilization, Divorce Recovery, Child Adjustment Support, and Co-Parenting Coaching. All are short-term and skills-focused.
How long does a program take?
Most clients complete a focused track in 4–8 sessions with optional booster sessions. Length varies by goals and clinical need.
What are your fees?
Session fees vary by clinician and service type. We’ll quote your exact rate before booking and provide options that fit your goals.
Do you take insurance?
We are out-of-network for most plans, but we can check you benefits before your first appointment. We can provide a superbill for reimbursement and accept HSA/FSA. If you have out-of-network benefits, many clients receive partial reimbursement.
Do you offer sliding scale or packages?
Limited need-based slots may be available. We also offer program bundles/booster options—ask at intake.
In-person or virtual?
Both. We see clients in our office in Boca Raton and offer secure telehealth across Florida (when clinically appropriate).
Can you appear in court or write custody recommendations?
No. We are non-forensic. We do not provide parental-fitness opinions, custody recommendations, depositions, or expert testimony. We are able to conduct evaluations and give expert testimony, but that is a separate service, and not in the scope of these programs.
Will you communicate with my attorney or mediator?
With written consent, we can share brief attendance/engagement updates or treatment summaries. We do not opine on legal matters.
How do you protect children during services?
We keep kids out of the middle, teach age-appropriate coping skills, and align routines with the parenting plan. We are mandated reporters and follow legal/ethical standards to protect safety.
What if my co-parent won’t participate?
You can still work individually. Our individual track teaches skills you can use regardless of your co-parent’s participation.
Is Co-Parenting Coaching done together or separately?
Both options are available. We can meet together for live skill practice and agreements, or separately (individual “shuttle” coaching) when conflict, logistics, or safety make joint sessions impractical. Many families start individually to build skills and then add a joint session to finalize scripts, handoff plans, and decision protocols. If there are safety concerns or a no-contact order, we keep sessions separate and coordinate via written exchanges.
Do both parents need to consent for child services?
We follow Florida law and your parenting plan. When appropriate, we request consent from both parents and coordinate logistics transparently.
What happens in Divorce Stabilization?
Crisis-taming skills, grounding, decision frameworks, and court-safe communication so you avoid impulsive choices and keep the case moving.
What happens in Divorce Recovery?
Rebuilding routines, boundaries, health behaviors, and confidence—aimed at a purposeful next chapter.
What happens in Co-Parenting Coaching?
BIFF-style messaging, decision protocols, boundary-setting, handoff SOPs, and shared-calendar practices to lower conflict fast.
Do you coordinate with schools or pediatricians?
With written consent, yes. We can provide collateral coordination to support a child’s routines and accommodations.
Do you handle emergencies or crisis calls?
We are not an emergency service. If you’re in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest ER. For 24/7 support, call/text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
What is your cancellation policy?
Please cancel or reschedule [24/48] hours in advance to avoid a late fee. We’ll review specifics during intake.
How do I get started?
Book a consult, complete brief intake forms, and we’ll recommend the best-fit track. You’ll leave Session 1 with initial skills and a plan.
What should I bring to the first session?
Any relevant parenting plan/court orders (if applicable), a medication list, and your top three goals for treatment.
How will we measure progress?
Jointly defined goals, brief check-ins each session, and a written plan by Session 3—updated at discharge with next steps and resources.
